Show October 11, 1968 THE SIGNPOST Par 7 A Man and a Woman . . . Does it Really Relate? Bv Marion Where would the Associated Men's Students be without the Associated Women Students? Nowhere! And that's why you guys are invited to grab your dollies and go to the AMS field Day next Wednesday, October 16. This shindig will be held in the lower quad of the campus with all invited to attend and take part in some of the swinging activities. Some of these activities are: an ice melting contest where couples hug and kiss and just generally turn-on a big block of ice. Then the couple at the end of the contest to have melted down the most ice will be the winner of that event. But then if you're not really tops at melting ice you could always try to place in the Kentucky Derby. 'Luv' Closing Performance By Kate Have you seen "Luv"? If not, you still have a chance to see this delightful satire, by Murray Schisgal, both tonight and tomorrow night. The play begins at 8 p.m. in the Little Theatre. Admission price is $2.00. Weber State students will be given free tickets by presenting their student-body cards. The tickets can be picked up at the Little Theatre box office at any time. All seats are reserved. Basically, 'the play involves Milt and Ellen Manville, whose marriage is shakey. Milt has fallen in love with a girl in his Interview With Mr. Abravena! By Don Choate Starting with praise for old glory, Maestro Maurice Abravena led the audience and symphony in the Star Spangled Banner, turned, smiled and stated, "God Bless America." During the opening number a state of supreme silence filled the entire auditorium. Bach's Toccata and Fuge in D Minor led off the evening and was followed by Bartoks Concert for Orchestra. After intermission Maestro Abravenal reopened with the romantic Brahms Symphony No. 2 in D Minor. In concluding, he invited every student to attend his next concert which will be on November 7, 1968. "Please come." Mr. Julander from the Political Science department and Dr. Oarson from the Psychology department will be participating wilth their wives. Remember that the AMS needs the AWS so bring your honey and have an hour of fun, fun, FUN! . . . Last on Sat. Walk office and wants to marry her. His wife, however, refuses to consent to a divorce. Milt decides to meet Ellen and talk to her. Their meeting place is a bridge on which, incidentally, the entire play is staged. While waiting for Ellen, Milt meets Harry, an old classmate of his. Harry is about to commit suicide. Using the power of love to persuade Harry from jumping into the river, Milt trys to make Harry fall in love with Ellen so that he can marry the office girl. Many hours of thinking has gone into the scenery in "Luv". The bridge is constructed in such a way that it appears to extend far into the distance. This added perspective in length gives the bridge a look of authenticity that could have been lost on a small stage. The characterization alone is one main factor that should draw throngs of people into this particular play. The characters wrap their problems into one superb satire. "Luv" is an excellent play of fine quality. The director, John M. Elzey and the characters, LARRY FULTON, as Milt; REBECCA STEVENSON, as Ellen; and KENN KLEIN, as Harry; plus all those that helped in "Luv's" production deserve praise for their superb job.
