Bro. and Sister Hughes arrived at the 40th anniversary of iheir-wedding day on the 19th inst. The sisters of the R. S. prepared a surprise for them. At 4 p. m. a table spread with much of the good things of life was surrounded by more than sixty of their friends and relatives when the worthy couple were ushered in. Sister Hughes entertained the company with many amusing reminiscences rem-iniscences of their early married life. The affair including the dance in the evening was a complete success. The men of the town met last night to arrange for lumber, shingles, etc., for their meeting house, which they propose to have under process of erection erec-tion in a little while. Their onlv meeting meet-ing house now is a tent. The new house is to be of lumber, and will measure 28x40. The sisters of the R. S. also met at the same time to discuss dis-cuss measures for the building of their R. S. house, which, from the zeal manifested mani-fested by the sisters, I presume will be a success. Contributions to the amount of $25. 00 were received. |
