Show FROM SWITZERLAND. AX IXTEI?PSTIXCi XJ3TTER A ROM ELDFE ALBERT TREIIXER, OF LITTLEFIEED. XOW EABOR- xsu ix the svyissmissiox, Editor, Washington County News. Dear Brother: I have read with great pleasure the letters published pub-lished in The News from my friends and colaborers in the different missionary mission-ary fields, as also the other news contained con-tained in its columns, and thinking, a few words from this part might be of interest to some of your readers will endeavor to write a few lines. I left my dear ones and home at Lifc-tlefield Lifc-tlefield on the 27th of September, 1898, and after visiting' some of the principal prin-cipal cities, such as Chicago, Washington, Washing-ton, New York, London, and Paris, arrived ar-rived at Bern, Switzerland, November 10, 1808, and was there assigned to labor in Winterthure and Schatl'housen district, where I have endeavored to fulfil mv calling as a messenger of the Gospel to the best of my ability; and I can say, tho weak, the Lord has blessed mo in my labors with friends and everything every-thing necessary. This is not a field where pGople thirst after the Gospel or Plan of Salvation. Darkness prevails here and the people care little for their future welfare, and therefore very few can be awakened so as to take an interest to investigate the message we bring, and the more especially when they find that message "Mormonism, " They have heard a great deal of the "Mormons," but mostly from evil sources, and those that know nothing accept hearsay of our Gospel and its people. But there is one once in a while to be found that will listen to us, investigate the news we bring, and accept the Gospel. I have had the pleasure of going into the waters with four and baptising them; and prospects are very good for a few- more in the near future. I have also been able to make some very good friends, and to remove the prejudice many had to us; and therefore feel that the Lord has blessed me, and hope that His blessings will continue, that I may be able to do much good while I am here, in spreading the Gospel that has been revealed in these last days for the salvation of mankind. I also hope to find many who are seeking for the true Gospel: that I may not feel to have come h'-re for naught, but feel that tho Loi-'u is with me so that I may know He is pleased with my work when my mission is ended and return feeling satisfied with myself. t feel to say, as many before me has, that the Washington County News is next to the letters from home, and I am always anxious for a copy of the next issue to arrive; I wish the missionaries mis-sionaries all had a good friend at home, as I have, to send them The News, as I know every one of them would appreciate ap-preciate it very much. I hope the people can all see the value of our home paper, and will assist you by subscribing sub-scribing for the Washington County News, the only paper in Dixie, so that it may live forever and help to bring our good Dixie to the front, which it can by showing up its good qualities and resources for enterprise, and removing re-moving the prejudice that many have for the south; for that and work is all that is needed to make a paradise of Dixie. Wishing you and all your readers a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, I remain, Yours respectfully, Albert Fkehn'ek. zunRhinfail Veltheim, Winterthure, Switzerland. : p. S.
