Show CH ANCES GOOD HERE FOR A DEER, SAYS STATE COMMISSION More deer, better deer and bigger big-ger dear than usual match wits with an estimated 77,000 hunters from Utah, California and Nevada starting Saturday morning as the annual Utah buck hunt got under way. The term "buck hunt" is a misnomer mis-nomer to the extent that 14,700 special permits for the removal of female deer have been at a high premium. Practically all have been subscribed by mail, whereas in the past many went begging. The regular Utah deer season opens October 20 and continues through Oct. 30. In some areas special hunts will extend to Nov. 2 and on Elk Mountain in San Juan County until November 11. In addition, there are 11 postseason post-season hunts Dec. 1 to 10. Utah hunters have 63 chance of success according to the success suc-cess ratio in previous Utah deer hunts, said Director Leonard. |
