Show HURRICANE Miss Julia Whitney Reporter Miss Nedra Gibbons left recently for Salt Lake City where she will seek employment. Mr. and Mrs. Fenton Whitney spent Friday in Cedar City visiting visit-ing with relatives. Mrs. Leslie Isom reviewed the book, "Berlin Diary", by William A. Shirer, at the Hurricane public pub-lic library, Thursday at 4:00 p. m. The next book review will be held the following week on Thursday, when Mrs. Ethel Baker will review re-view the book, "Behind God's Back", by Negley Farson. Allan and Willard Humphries made a trip up north on Friday for business purposes. Miss Betty Lou Spendlove returned re-turned Wednesday from the Iron county hospital where she had an appendectomy performed. Mr. and Mrs. Lafayette Ballard spent the week end in Cedar City visiting with their daughter, Audrey, Aud-rey, and son, Orlen, who are going go-ing to college there. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Jones and family of Overton, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lytle and family of Ursine, Nev., Mr. and Mrs. William Wil-liam Harradance and Heber Em-pey Em-pey of St. George were Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Bliss. Mr. and Mrs. Milton D. Greeves spent the last few days in Salt Lake City on business. Francis Leany left Sunday for Las Vegas where he will seek employment. The chemistry class of the Hurricane Hur-ricane high school held a party in the homemaking room Friday evening. The girls of the class prepared the banquet dinner. Most of the time was spent in eating and doing dishes, along with listening to the radio. The North ward junior class, as part of their class work, held a banquet Tuesday night. The correct cor-rect procedure for setting tables and table etiquette were demonstrated. demon-strated. The class has been very interested in this course of stady and have put forth its efforts in making it a success. A farewell dance honoring Lieutenant Lieu-tenant John Shipley of the Hurricane Hur-ricane CCC camp, was held in the hiyh school gymnasium Saturday evening. Lieutenant Shipley has passed the physical requirements of the Army and will leave in the near future, with his wife and family, for Louisville, Kentucky, where he will take up his new duties. The Wasatch Oil company has opened their service station for the public here Wednesday morning. morn-ing. Lon Robinson is manager. A birthday party was given for Miss Florine Tweedie by her friends at the home of Mary Lyn Woodbury Saturday evening. During Dur-ing the evening the girls played cards and ate sandwiches. Wilden Tweedie has gone to Redding, Calif., to attend a preparatory pre-paratory school. His wife will stay at the home of her mother, Mrs. Augusta Wood, while ho is gone.
