Show Many Taking Advantage Of Red Cross Swimming Program Here The American Red Cross swimming swim-ming campaign got underway on Monday, July 17, with large groups reporting at the opening class and more joining each day since. Classes for adults, as well as some of the junior classes are being split, to provide for all who have enrolled. Miss Marie Sanders of Ogden is the instructress. Day classes are devoted to the younger groups, with a large number num-ber of both boys and girls participating. partici-pating. They are taking lively interest in-terest in learning the best strokes in swimming, the rudiments of life saving and of self-care in case of emergency in the water. Like enthusiasm is reported among the adult groups, both women and men enrolling. Word of what is being taught is bringing bring-ing more in each evening, reports Mrs. Roxey Romney, county Red Cross chairman. More than ever, says Mrs. Romney, people are finding appreciation for the municipal mu-nicipal swimming pool. This opportunity op-portunity of expert instruction in swimming and life saving is arousing arous-ing the interest of people who had not previously made use of the pool. To date, there are more than 250 taking part in the swimming swim-ming campaign, 190 enrolling the first day. |
