Show Memorial Services Held In Hurricane for Pfc. Dale Covington HURRICANE, Utah. Memorial services for Pfc. Dale Covington, killed in action somewhere in the Pacific, were held in the Hurricane Hurri-cane North ward chapel, Sunday, July 9, at 4:30 p.m., with Bishop Allen Stout conducting. Music numbers included, "Cast Thy Bread Upon the Water", by Lafe Staheli, Verlene Sullivan, Norene Yegley and Clinton Tsom; duet, "Gently Lead Us", by Zer-enda Zer-enda and Newell Stead of Wids-toe, Wids-toe, Utah; quartet, "Sometime We'll Understand",' and a duet, "There's A Star-spangled Banner Waving Somewhere", Norene Yegley Yeg-ley and Verlene Sullivan. Speakers were Homer Engle-stead Engle-stead of Hurricane Post No. 100, The American Legion; Charles E. Allen of Leeds, Robert P. Woodbury Wood-bury and Newell Stead. Mr. En-glestead En-glestead praised Dale as "a good soldier and a hero", and told of his enlistment with the Second Marines at the age of 17. Others offered words of praise and consolation con-solation to those bereaved, and Mr. Stead, who had employed Dale before his enlistment praised him for his cleanliness, manliness and his great sacrifice for his country. Prayers were by Orval Webb and Lafayette Hall. |
