Show Vancy Meeks Asay Honored ffith Anniversary fete By Her Daughters jlrs. Jerome Asay Jr., and Mrs. jeSse Gibbons were co-hostesses August 12th at a birthday party in honor of Nancy Meeks Asay. The occasion was the celebration of Mrs. Asay's 83rd birthday anniversary. an-niversary. Many of Mrs. Asay's girlhood friends were there to recall old days spent in Orderville and Har-risburg. Har-risburg. The afternoon was spent in visiting and devouring Dixie peaches and grapes, after which the cutting of the birthday cake held the spotlight. Mrs. Asay was born at Paro-wan, Paro-wan, August 12, 1859, the daughter daugh-ter of Mary Jane McCleave and Dr. Priddy Meeks. At an early age the family moved to Harris-burg, Harris-burg, where in 1875, she married Jerome Asay Sr. Later they moved mov-ed to Long Valley, residing in Orderville during the time the United Order was in practice there. A great deal of their early married life was spent on Asay Creek, the creek receiving its name from her husband's people, who were among the first to settle there. Later, they made their home in Emery county, where Mr. Asay died Oct. 1, 1940. Since that time, Mrs. Asay has been residing with her children in St. George. |
