Show HURRICANE Cathren Riding Reporter. Miss Glenna Webb, who is employed em-ployed in Salt Lake City, spent Sunday here visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Webb. Miss Ruth Spendlove visited over the week end with her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. George Spendlove. Spend-love. Mrs. Floyd Ence returned Saturday Sat-urday to her home in Pasadena, after a visit of a week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Brad-shaw. Brad-shaw. Mrs. William Woodbury held a quilting bee at her home last Friday afternoon. Luncheon was served to the following: Mes-dames Mes-dames Harold Reeve, Chauncey Sandberg, Joseph Webb, Joseph Wittwer, May Hirschi, Eva Strat-ton, Strat-ton, J. H. Riding and Lyle Sullivan. Sul-livan. A. F. Hartley and son, Eldean, have gone to Tooele, where they have employment. Carma and Nancy Lee spent last week at St. George with relatives. rel-atives. Mrs. Woodward Jepson visited a few days last week at Kanab. Owing to the scarcity of fruit pickers, farmers are employing Japs and Indians in their orchards. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur E. Storm of Las Vegas spent Sunday here. Mr. and Mrs. Finley Judd were in attendance at the Utah Grocers' Association convention held in Salt Lake City last week end. Mrs. Tyler, who will teach school here this winter, was in Hurricane Sunday, looking for housekeeping rooms. Mrs. Woodrow Jepson took her little son, Jimmy, in to Salt Lake City, Wednesday, for a surgical examination. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Peterson of Bingham were here Monday for a load of fruit. Jack Scholzen returned last week from the Payson hospital, where he had been for an appendectomy. ap-pendectomy. He left Tuesday for a month's trip through California, expecting to go up the Coast to San Francisco and home by way of Salt Lake City. Word has been received that John Imlay, who is stationed at Monroe, Louisiana, has been promoted pro-moted to a Sergeant. The Lady Lions held a party Saturday evening in honor of the out-going president, Mrs. Finley Judd. The setting was beautiful, on the spacious lawn at the home of Mrs. Henry Scholzen, with a background of shrubs and flowers well-lighted with electricity. A quiz program was carried out with Mrs. Emil Graff winning the prize. Mrs. Fred Slack was elected elec-ted president. Mrs. Mattie Ruesch received word that her son, Rondo, has graduated from officers' training school. Mr. and Mrs. George Stevens, and Mesdames Ben Lee, Henry Scholzen, and Erma Stevens went to Upper Kolob Saturday evening to a surprise birthday party, given by Clarence Lamoreaux, on honor of his wife and a house warming for their new home. The party was in the form of a lamb-bake. About 50 guests were present. Mrs. John Humphries returned Saturday from a two week's visit in California. Mrs. Norris Brown is here visiting visit-ing for a week with her mother, Mrs. Anna Wood. She and her mother will go to California for a' short visit. Mrs. Anna Wood and Mrs. Jessie Jes-sie Gibson spent Sunday at Rock-ville, Rock-ville, visiting with James Jennings Jenn-ings and Mrs. Eleanor Jennings. Malin Gibson is stationed at Pendleton Field, Ore. He is in the Engineer Corps. Mrs. Edith Anderson returned Wednesday from Idaho, where she has been on a visit. People are busy canning peaches for the Church Security program. Mrs. LaPriel Allen, of Antimony, Anti-mony, was here Wednesday for a load of fruit. |
