Show GROW EARLY POTATOES The growing of early potatoes in Dixie for the Salt Lake market is entirely en-tirely feasible and should be very profitable according to advice from Heber J. Webb, the state agricultural inspector. We should plant certified certifi-ed or extra choice seed of an early variety early in February, harvest the crop in May and ship to the Salt Lake market when there is no competition. Potatoes shipped at this time should bring a price of 10c per lb, according to this authority. He insists, however, how-ever, that it is necessary to plant proper seed that will produce extra heavy yields. A small garden plot was planted with certified seed potatoes pota-toes last year by George Webb and he reports an extra fine crop of marketable market-able potatoes. He is so enthused with the results that he is planning to plant an acre or two next year. He has already obtained some extra choice seed from Garfield county delivered de-livered here at 5c per lb. If any one in the county desires to obtain first choice seed at 5c per lb or second choice seed at 4c per lb. delivered get in touch immediately with the agricultural inspector, A. M. Woodbury, at St. George. |
