Show Dorin Fox Present at Tokyo Bay For Formal Japanese Surrender Yokohama, Japan Being present pres-ent in Tokyo Bay on the day of Japan's formal surrender, Doran C. Fox, yeoman third class, adopted adopt-ed son of Mr. and Mrs. Milford Barnum, of Central, Utah, witnessed wit-nessed the culmination of history's bloodiest war. As a member of the crew of the U. S. S. Hanford Flag ship for Rear Admiral John Hall's famed Tokyo Force, Fox helped land members of the American occupation occupa-tion force for the Tokyo Yokohama Yoko-hama area, as the mighty units of the American fleet kept their big guns trained on the Jap shores, thousands of troops of the Tokyo force pushed shoreward in the bloodiest operation. While serving aboard the Hansford, Hans-ford, Fox has seen action in the historic battles for Iwo Jima and Okinawa, and has spent three months in the Philippines. He enlisted in May, 1943. |
