Show LaVERKIN Mrs. Ruby Webb Reporter Mr. and Mrs. Sam Earl and children spent Thanksgiving in Boulder City with1 Mr. and Mrs. Walter Thompson. Harris Gubler accompanied Elton El-ton Stout to Salt Lake City last week on business. " . La Verkin Town Board were hosts last Friday evening at a welcome home dancing party honoring ponvvorth Gubler, Phil Squire, Max Hinton and Terry H. Eves, all local service men who have recently been discharged. Ted and Jack Eves left Sunday for Las Vegas with a load of potatoes and expect to bring lumber back with them. Mr. and Mrs. Powel Stratton have received word that their son, Loren, stationed at Camp Beal, Calif., was recently promoted promot-ed to staff sergeant. Their daughter, daugh-ter, Afton who has been visiting them the past week returned Monday to Cedar City. Guests over Thanksgiving week end of Mrs. LaVell Hinton were her daughter, Shirley, telephone operator from St. George, Mr. and Mrs. Gar Neilson of Washington Wash-ington and Sgt. and Mrs. Max Hinton. Sgt. Hinton has just been discharged from military service, arriving home Nov. 22, just in time for dinner, after 29 months in the Pacific. Eight members of the local DUP camp met Monday afternoon after-noon at the home of Mrs. Morris Wilson Jr. and reorganized. Mrs. James Judd was elected captain, Mrs. Marguerite Hardy, vice-capt., vice-capt., Mrs. Wilford Thompson secretary-treasurer. Other officers will be chosen later. Lyman Gubler RM3C arrived home Friday on extended leave. Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Merrill, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hardy, Mr. and Mrs. Theron Stevens and Mrs. Sheldon Gifford and their families spent Thanksgiving day 'in Las Vegas with their sister, Mrs. Ellis Stevens. Seaman and Mrs. Jack Riley of Mesquite were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hardy, who accompanied them to Mes-q,uite Mes-q,uite to attend a farewell party for Mrs. Hardy's brother, Ned Leavitt, who is going into service. Sgt. Keel Hardy arrived Monday Mon-day evening with his honorable discharge after three years in the Pacific. He had not: known of the death of his father, Brigham Hardy, until his arrival here. Mrs. Amelia Sanders spent two days last week at Hatch, with her daughter, Mrs. Orson Barnhurst. entertained at a turkey dinner Monday evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Zesinger, who are here visiting from Salt Lake. Other guests were Messrs and Mesdames Cecil Sullivan, Winferd Spendlove and Wayne Wilson. Mr. and Mrs. Lafell Iverson and family spent Thanksgiving day in Washington with relatives. A neighborhood party was held Monday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Hardy honoring honor-ing Pvt. Mark Jennings before his return to his military base. (Held Over from Last Week) Lt. and Mrs. Nolan P. Taylor of Ogden are here visiting Mrs. Taylor's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Junius Duncan. Lt. Taylor is at present on terminal leave but is expecting his discharge by Dec. 14th. Before returning to Ogden they will visit in St. George with Mrs. Taylor's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Riding and then Mr. Taylor is expecting to teach school in Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Mansel Scow and children of Salt Lake arrived Saturday to spend the week with their parents, Mrs. Mary Gubler and Mr. and Mrs. Alf Scow. A family dinner was held Monday Mon-day evening Nov. 12, at the home of J. W. Seglcr in honor of Klzyvce Seglcr. who left Friday i for California to work for Mr. and Mrs. Goo. Sandstrom and Pvt. Garn Seller who is home on leave from Camp Roberts, Calif.. Pvt. Seglcr left for Fori Orel, Calif, where he reports back. Pvt. Mark Jennings, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Jennings, arrived Thursday, from Camp Roberts, Calif, for a two weeks leave. W. Tell Gubler made a trip to Provo last week on scout business. busi-ness. Karl Church is home with an honorable discharge which be received Nov. 6. He spent 31 months in the service and 2 years of that time was spent in New Caledonia, Guadalcanal, the Solomons, Solo-mons, New Zealand and New Guinea until the push on the Philippines.
