Show Gene Wadsworth Reports on Reclamation Convention Discussion of Western States (Held Over from Last Week) HURRICANE, Utah Mr. and Mrs. Gene Wadsworth have just returned from Denver Colo, where Mr. Wadsworth attended the National Na-tional Reclamation Association Convention, held in the Shirley Savoy Hotel. According to Mr. Wadsworth there were between six and seven hundred delegates. The purpose of the convention was to make plans for the future development, and the reclamation of the millions of acres of uncultivated un-cultivated land in the 17 western states during this post-war era. Main points of discussion were the best way to get financial help from the government for construction construc-tion of new projects and improvement improve-ment and maintenance of those in use, and create more production. There was considerable discussion discus-sion as to the size of new and old farms, also management of future fu-ture dams and powerplants.wheth-er powerplants.wheth-er they should be run by TVA, by states or by privoate interests. $250,000,000 is now available for these western projects. Mr. Wadsworth said "The states that yell loudest will get most . . . We must sell our natural possibilities possibil-ities and projects to all who will listen or can help . . . Unless we do this development of Utah's Dixie will not go as far or as fast as it should and can." |
