Show I Funeral Services Held at Enterprise Saturday For Lucy Hoyt Adair, 84 ENTERPRISE, Utah. Funeral services for Lucy Hoyt Adair, 84, were held in the Enterprise ward hall, Saturday, Nov. 24, at 2 p.m. A grandson-in-law, Durward Terry conducted the services. Music numbers were by Merril Terry, vocalist; the ward choir; a duet by Mrs. Alta Truman and Heber M. Holt, for which words were written by Tim Hoyt. Speakers were patriarch Arthur Jones, Mrs. Mary Drake, and Amos P. Terry. Mrs. Durward Terry also gave a sketch of her grandmother's life and read an original tribute written by another an-other granddaughter, Mrs. Preston Pres-ton Truman. Prayers were by Bp. Arthur Barlocker and Edward Hall. Born Jan. 19, 186-, in Nephi. Utah, Lucy Amelia. Hoyt Adair was one of 10 children born to Israel and Clarissa Amanda Miller Hoyt, pioneers of 1847. They were just completing a large home when they were called to the Muddy Mis'sion in Nevada, where as a child she assisted with picking, ginning and weaving cotton cot-ton into cloth for the family. From there the Hoyts moved to Long Valley in Kane County, where Lucy met Elijah T. Adair, whom she married in St. George Temple, Feb. 1, 1887. They were among the families who lived in the United Order at Orderville, and later operated the church cotton farm near Washington. In 1897 they moved to Enterprise, Enter-prise, where her husband died in 1927. Surviving are five children, all of whom were present for the funeral. They are Delbert Adair and Mrs. Emily Thomas of Enterprise; Enter-prise; Mrs. Edward Hall, Israel Adair and Josiah Adair all of Pioche, 31 grandchildren, 36 greatgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Bodily of St. George, and Mrs. 'Lillian Fackrell of Enterprise. |
