Show Hurricane Mrs. Katharine Larson Reporter Mrs. Mary Scholson entertained her card club on Wednesday night. Eleven guests enjoyed an evening of pinochle. Mrs. Evodna Brad-shaw Brad-shaw was awarded first prize. William E. Woodbury, local postmaster, was taken to the Iron county hospital Tuesday morning for surgical treatment. Mrs. Alice Christensen of Fillmore Fill-more spent last week visiting with her daughter, Mrs. Edith Bennett. Mrs. Ora Williams and Mrs. Lillian Lil-lian Workman entertained their card club Monday evening at the William's home. Lunch was served to twelve guests. Pri7es were won by Mrs. Emmarene Graff and Mrs. Katharine Larson. Born, a daughter on March 14 to Mr. and Mrs. James Judd. Mr. Judd is an engineer on the Washington Wash-ington bridge. Mrs. Laura Banner and Miss Jean Kendall spent the week-end at Ncphi and Provo. Paul H. Gates and Leeman Bennett Ben-nett attended the county principal's princi-pal's meeting at St. George on Friday. Fri-day. Karl Larson, debate coach took the following students to Dixie college on Thursday: Bill Smith, Do Lance Squire, Wilden Twecdie, Harvard Hinton, Phil Squire, Maurice Dalton, Melville Hirschi and Lloyd Sandberg. The four teams debated on the subject "Un-cameral "Un-cameral Legislature", with a number num-ber of teams from the high school at St. George. Mr. and Mrs. Golden Taylor visited at Harmony over the weekend week-end with Mr. Taylor's father. James E. Taylor. Miss Georgia Isom left Monday Mon-day for Salt Lake City where she has employment. Miss Grace Humphries has gone to Tuba. Ariz, where she has obtained ob-tained stenographic work with the government. Mark Adair left on Wednesday for Arizona where he will sheer goats for the next month. Mr .and Mrs. Ernest Tobler of Santa Clara spent Sunday with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Tobler. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Hall and son of St. George were guests at the Elmer Graff home on Sunday. Mrs. Lydia Stout entertained at a card party on Wednesday evening even-ing in honor of Mrs. Elaine Hamilton Hamil-ton of the South Rim, Grand Canyon. The following ladies enjoyed en-joyed an evening of bridge and visiting: Mesdames Erma Stevens, Audrey Stevens. Pearl Stout. Roma Stout. Eleanor Reusch, Jenny Ballard and Venice Strat-ton. Strat-ton. Mrs. Hamilton was the recepi-tant recepi-tant of a potted shamrock as a special gift to the honored guest. Mrs. Ruth Isom and Mrs. Phyllis Heaton entertained sixteen of their friends on Thursday evening at the Isom home. Games and visiting made a pleasant time for everyone. Mrs. Carol Tobler and Mrs. Jenny Ballard entertained their Bridge club on Wednesday evening at the Tobler home. Mr. and Mrs. Ether Wood will be in Salt Lake City during the coming week, Mr. Wood on business, busi-ness, and Mrs. Wood visiting with their daughter, Mrs. Iona Hall, and her sister, Mrs. Metta Gerard. Miss Julia Whitney and Miss Vivian Sullivan, with the help of their Bee Keeper, Mrs. Grace Staheli. cooked and served a dinner din-ner to Mrs. Blanche Wright and the following Bee Hive Girls: Roma Heaton. Nelda Atkin. Lucille Russell, Leal ha Humphries. La Donna Sullivan and Eva Iml.iy, Mr. and Mrs, Cladius Ilirschi attended the meet ing and luncheon at the Hotel F.scalunte at. Cedar City on Saturday night for Southern Utah bankers. Harold Ilughey of Sheridan. Wyo.. is visiting at the El her Wood home. Mr. and Mrs. Webb Barber of Enterprise visited with relatives here over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Leeman Bennett anrl daughter, Raquel left. Wednesday Wednes-day morning for Salt Lake City where Mr. Bennett will attend a state principal's meet. Elected President At. a meeting of the board of directors of the Hurricane Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce Glen Williams was elected from the group of directors as president of the local organization. Mr. Williams came to Hurricane ten years ago to make his home. Since that time he has taken an nctive part In church and civic affairs. lie proved his worth last fall as central chairman of the Homecoming and Bridge Day celebration. At present pre-sent he is deputy sheriff to An-tone An-tone Prince. He is also a member on the stake young men's board. |
