Show Dixie Junior High Takes Basketball Crown At Tournament Held Here Dixie junior high romped to an easy win in the Junior High basketball bas-ketball tournament held here on last Saturday between teams representing rep-resenting Las Vegas, Enterprise, Hurricane and Dixie. While the scores indicated a big advantage for Dixie, the games were interesting interest-ing to watch. Fine sportsmanship was displayed. In the first round of games Hurricane lost to Las Vegas by 2 points, the score being 22-24. In the second game Enterprise was outplayed by Dixie 12-45. In the third game Enterprise took Hurricane Hur-ricane by a score of 25-30 and in the final stanza Dixie took the championship game from Las Vegas by a score of 18-37. Sportsmanship Featured The coaches selected the following follow-ing players for their sportsmanship sportsman-ship and playing ability: Forward, M. Gentry, Dixie and C. Emmett, Enterprise; center, G. Hartley, Hurricane; guards, Morse, Las Vegas and G. Wilkins, Dixie. C. Emmett was awarded honors for showing the best individual sportsmanship. Grey Wilkins, Dixie guard, played outstanding ball throughout the tournament. A trophey was given the championship cham-pionship team and a medal was presented each player on the team. The All-Tournament players were also given medals. |
