Show k DIXIE COLLEGE Questions often arise concerning concern-ing the new organization of the Dixie junior college. A problem that has arisen in the minds of some is in connection with the validity of credits. Up until this year the State Board of Education Educa-tion has never permitted college credit to be allowed in case high school students were in the same class as college students, except such work as chorus, band, and the like. "This policy," states Pres. B. Glen Smith, has been considerably consider-ably modified with the acceptance of the four-year junior college plan. There are several courses that college students desire that they have not been able to obtain ob-tain in high school. It stands to reason they should be permitted to get this work without any demotion. The State Board not only permits this, but they have commended the college in its effort ef-fort to make such a system possible. possi-ble. It has proved uneconomical to hold two classes in the same subject, one in college and one in high school, when the enrollment enroll-ment is small in each. "Only in a few cases will classes be combined, and in each case of such combination all work will be strictly of the college grade. Ninety-five percent of the work will justify separate classes for college and high school." President Smith further explains that the State Board of Education Educa-tion is the official examining body of the Dixie junior college, hence its approval of the new organization or-ganization will insure full recognition rec-ognition of the new credit system. sys-tem. The college credits are further recognized by the Northwestern Association of Secondary schools, which has also approved the change. There need be no fear I whatsoever, then, in regard to j the validity of the Dixie credits. ! Catalogues i The distribution of the Dixie j junior college catalogue has now ' been completed.
