Show C. of C. Sponsors Bathing Beauty Contest Winner to Be Entered In State Contest With All Expenses Paid Believing in backing all of the products of Washington county, and especially the "human ones", the St. George Chamber of Commerce Com-merce is now stepping to the front with the sponsorship of a bathing beauty contest to be held on July 24 in connection with the program outlined for that day. To quote D. C. Watson, committee com-mittee member and president of the Business People's organization, organiza-tion, "Every young girl or young woman from nine to 90 is invited to participate". Winner of the contest will be given the title of Miss St. George and will be sent to Salt Lake City on an expense paid trip which includes two days in Salt Lake where she will be entered in the contest to select Miss Utah. The winner 'of the Miss Utah contest will then go to Idaho where Idaho will select Miss Idaho. Following this a group of 12 girls representing the western states will be entertained at the San Francisco exposition, will then go to Los Angeles, Boulder Dam, Zion National Park, Salt Lake City and thence east to Atlantic City to participate in the national contest. Girls who plan to enter this contest may do so by registering at any of the beauty parlors in St. George. All contestants must have registered by Saturday night at 6 p.m. In backing the -contest, with the support of local clubs and civic organizations, the Chamber of Commerce points out that considerable con-siderable good advertising can be cashed in on by having the win-( win-( Continued on page four) Bathing Beauty Contest (Continued from first page) ner extend an invitation to the Governor and other dignitaries to attend the Lions club rodeo and Chamber of Commerce fruit festival festi-val to be held here in September. Contacts will be made ahead of time to assure a proper reception and a friendly atmosphere. A prompt response by those planning to enter the contest is urged by the committee in charge so that proper arrangements can be made. Young ladies from Santa Clara and Washington are also invited to participate. The contest con-test will be worked into the general program of the day, an outline of which appears in this issue of the News. Organizations and clubs who will assist the Chamber of Commerce Com-merce in putting over the bathing beauty contest are as follows: Business People's organization, Rotary club, Lions club, Business and Professional Women's club, Recreation committee, Legion and Legion Auxiliary. |
