Show Legion Auxiliary Leader Tells Heed For Rehabilitation Program Declaring that the American Legion auxiliary was today engaged en-gaged in a tremendous work in helping the disabled veterans, Ora Lewis, state auxiliary president, told those present at the opening meeting of the district convention held here last Saturday of the great need for this work. The convention opened at 2:30 in the Gaiety Theatrei with many promi-nate promi-nate state and district officials present. "The American Legion and its auxiliary is today engaged in the great engineering feat of building build-ing a magnificent bridge of service, ser-vice, spanning the yawning chasm of want, need and bewilderment over which our disabled comrades com-rades and their dependents may cross to a place of understanding care, self-helpfulness and comrad-ship comrad-ship within that family circle of decent American citizenry, which they risked so much to preserve. "Our bridge of service will be built this year uniformily, sturdily and beautifully only as each builder is conscious of the high privilege that is his as an architect archi-tect and a craftsman to use his hands in placing into the lives of others that which he desires to have in his own", president Lewis declared. Reports were given by each representative re-presentative present and the report re-port from Milford was read since their members were unable to be present. These reports indicated the work that is being done by the Auxiliary members in building up their various communities. |
