Show Dixie College Holds First Assembly Of Year The first student body assembly at the Dixie junior college was held Wednesday with B. Glen Smith, former president, and Mariam Ahlstrom, faculty advisor of amusements, in charge of the program. Glenn E. Snow, newly appointed president, welcomed the students back to Dixie, following his introduction to the student body by Mr. Smith. Members of the faculty addressed the students, after which Ray Schmutz, student body president, introduced the student stu-dent body officers for this year. The elective officers are: Ray Schmutz, president; Mary Lou Wells, vice-president; Esther Woodbury, girl's club president and George Jay, boys' club president. presi-dent. Appointive officers which have been filled are: Edith Sullivan Sulli-van and Lenore Perkins, committee commit-tee of amusements and Clayton Prince, year book editor. Announcement An-nouncement was also made at this time of the dedication of the new football field, followed by a party, will be held Wednesday night. Other numbers on the assembly program were: musical selections by Ray Whipple, former student body president; piano solo, Miss Falck, piano instructor; reading, Afton Peters, librarian, and trumpet trum-pet solo, Joe Tally. The students were lead by Joseph W. McAllister, McAllis-ter, head of the vocal department in singing college songs. |
