Show Golden Wedding Anniversary Observed Mr. and Mrs. F. Y. Morse observed ob-served their Golden Wedding anniversary an-niversary Wednesday, April 14, at their home here. Friends called throughout the day and a family dinner was held in the evening. Francis Young Morse was born in St. George, December 4, IS 62. a son of Francis Y. and Elizabeth Eliza-beth Thomas Morse who had come to St. George the previous fall. He took advantage of what education edu-cation was offered, helped build the Temple and did considerable work on it following his ordination ordina-tion as an Elder when he was 14 years of age. At the age of j 17 he was ordained to the office of Seventy and was active in church work. He then taught school at Pine Valley, Harrisburg and Duncan's Retreat and the following year engaged in adobe making for the many homes that were being built, some of which are still standing. He was married mar-ried in the St. George Temple, April 14, 1887 to Sarah Maria Larson, daughter of Lars and Mary Adelphia Bellows Larson, also Dixie Pioneers of 1861. The ceremony was performed by John D. T. McAllister and the reception recep-tion following the ceremony was held at the home of her parents. i He ran a 6tore for 17 years with James and Alfred Larson and made steady trips to Salt Lake City by wagon exchanging Dixie produce for other supplies. After leaving the store he moved to Grass Valley where he followed fol-lowed the occupation of farming. They are both faithful Latter-Day Saints and have reared their children child-ren in paths of righteousness. They are the parents of two soris, Francis Y. and Samuel F. B. of St. George, Mrs. Georgiana Wat-kins Wat-kins of American Fork and Mrs. Ruth Timpson of Los Angeles. Also two granddaughters, J. Lu-dene Lu-dene and Gayle Timpson. |
