Show Around the County, Arizona Strip and Parts of Hev.f With the Correspondents Santa Clara Mrs. Eliza Graff Reporter Mr. and Mrs. Sylvian Graff returned re-turned from Escalante last Saturday Satur-day where he has taught school for the past term. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Sowby and two children left for Nephi last Monday after spending a month here. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Gubler and children of Logandale spent the week-end here. Mrs. Joseph Graff spent the week-end in Las Vegas visiting relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Young of Salt Lake City were visitors here at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Frei. They were enroute to California Cal-ifornia to find employment. Rockville Mrs. Philetus Jones Reporter The Primary held their Spring Festival on the recreational grounds last week. The songs and little plays given by the children were very good and those attending at-tending enjoyed it very much. Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Stevens and Mrs. Lawrence Moody, returned return-ed last week from Oakland where they have spent sometime. Mr. Moody will come up in the near future for his vacation. Mrs. Oscar Demill is home from the St. George hospital and is slowly improving. Gordon and Garth Jones left Friday for Berkeley, California where they will enter the Richfield Rich-field training school for service station operators after which they will be employed by their - uncle, C. Tracy Stout, who is in business there. Melville Hirschi, who was recently re-cently operated on for appendicitis at St. George returned to the his-pital his-pital Tuesday night. Mrs. Bob Snow returned to her home at Mapleton last Friday after af-ter visiting relatives here the past two weeks. Mrs. Melvin Harmon and son, Elmer, also her daughter, Mrs. Emily Foremaster was visiting hei daughter, Mrs. Waldon Ballard last Sunday. Newell Demill is building an open-air dance pavilion which will be completed in the near future. Central Mrs. Austin Bracken Reporter Mr. and Mrs. Norvel Bracken left Saturday for the Ivins farm to spend the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Day of California are visiting here with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. George P. Lytle and two daughters were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Lytle on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Abram Burgess have moved their family home for the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Sorenson left Friday for Salt Lake City to spend their vacation. Mr. Sorenson recently re-cently accompanied the fifth, sixth, and seventh grade students on a five-day trip to Salt Lake City and other northern points. The first second and third grade students were taken to Zion's Park. We appreciate what Mr. and Mrs. Sorenson Sor-enson have done for our school this winter. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Gray and Mrs. Laura Gray spent Sunday at Santa Clara. Mr. and Mrs. Anthon Bracken have moved home for the summer. sum-mer. Misses Elaine and Byrle Keyes, Arlene Bracken and Lou Slade ate home from St. George and Pioche where they attended school. Howard Caudill has returned from the McGregor hospital where he has been recovering from injuries in-juries received in an auto accident. Enterprise Mrs. Theresa Huntsman Reporter Mr. and Mrs. William J. Truman announce the marriage of their daughter, Alice to Leon Barnum, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Barnum. The marriage took place May 19. Bishop Joseph A. Terry performed the ceremony. Friday evening the Primary put over its annual May festival. The officers and teachers have worked long and hard on this little pageant pag-eant but felt well-paid for their efforts when the affair went off so successfully. Mr. and Mrs. Arch Lamoreaux and Mrs. Edith Tait left Monday morning for Oklahoma for a short visit. George Tait and daughter, La-Prele La-Prele of Alamo spent several days of the past week here visiting. Mrs. Jonathan Hunt spent several sev-eral days visiting in Cedar. Dr. Prestwich and five Iron county nurses spent Tuesday in-noculating in-noculating and examining babies. Toquerville Mrs. Rowena Slack Reporter The Ladies' Sewing club met at the home of Mrs. Rhea Wakeling Thursday afternoon. The time was spent in visiting and doing fancy work after which a delicious lunch was served t o twenty present. Guests were Mrs. Bertha McGreg-' or of St. George and Mrs. Pearl Henroid of LaVerkin. Miss Wanda Anderson is visiting visit-ing Salt Lake City for a few weeks. Mrs. Bell Christenson of Salt Lake City is visiting her father, G. M. Spillsbury. Mrs. Madge Cannon and two children of St. George are visiting her mother, Mrs. G. M. Spillsbury. Mrs. Ben Newell and Miss Max-ine Max-ine Slack left Saturday for Los Angeles to visit a week. The Primary held their regular regu-lar junior dance Monday night. Mr. and Mrs. Horance Roundy and family left for their home in Kanarraville Friday after spending the winter here. Hew Harmony Mrs. Leslie Pace Reporter Miss Josephine Taylor underwent under-went an operation on her knee, Tuesday in the Iron county hospital. hos-pital. The school teachers, Miss Viola Woodbury and Mr. Culbert Lcany were honored at a party Saturday night. Mr. Leany's students returned home last Friday from their trip north. They were accompanied by Mrs. Cleveland LeBaron, Miss Fern Prince, Miss Vada Prince and Miss Wilma Grant. Miss Florence Prince has returned re-turned home from the Iron county hospital. Miss Norma Schmutz is visiting in Salt Lake City with her aunt, Mrs. D. John Bloem. Emil Neiderer is visiting with his sister. Mrs. Gottlieb Schmutz. Mrs. William Cottam is visiting with her mother, Mrs. Lurene Taylor. |
