Show Mrs. Althea Nelson and Mrs. Wilma Kemp were hostesses to the Alice Louise Reynolds club on Wednesday, May 19, at the Nelson home. The subject for the day was, "The Ends of the Earth". "With Byrd in Little America", was given by Mrs. Leona Atkin. "Arctic Adventure", Ad-venture", was given by Mrs. Marion Mar-ion Snow. Miss Evlyn Snow favored fav-ored with a piano solo and refreshments re-freshments were served to twenty-four twenty-four members. Kay Rowe who underwent a very serious operation at the local hospital a month ago is slowly improving. David H. Forsha and Bishop Reid of Ogden were visiting from Friday until Sunday with Mrs. Helen F. Hafen and other relatives here and also enjoyed a short trip to Boulder Dam before returning hovrie. Mrs. John C. Benson left Wednesday Wed-nesday for Salt Lake City upon receiving word that her brother-in-law, Earl C. Lester had died at 2:00 that morning with heart trouble. Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Lund of Salt Lake City are spending some time visiting their children ir. St. George and their daugnter, Mrs. Lamond Stratton in Hurricane. Don Huntsman of Ferrin, Utah Who has been enrolled in the CCC camp for some time died at the hospital on Monday evening and the body was taken home for burial bur-ial accompanied by his father who had come to his bedside. He underwent un-derwent an operation at the hospital hos-pital here a few weeks ago and was almost entirely well when he contracted pneumonia from which i he died. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Foate left j Sunday for Milwaukee, Wis., to visit his folks. They were accompanied accom-panied as far as Salt Lake City by her mother, Mrs. Thamizan Lund and her brother, Ken and her sister, Mrs. Delias Sullivan of Merced, California who has been visiting in St. George for several days. j W. O. Bentley left Wednesday j noon on a business trip to Salt Lake City. Miss Maxine Hafen entertained at a dinner party honoring Garn Heaton at her home on Saturday evening. A color scheme of pink and white was carried throughout the evening even to the large pink and white cake with his name written upon it. Covers were laid for Helen Hafen, Norma Mathis, Toni Watson, Mary Andrus, Jennie Jen-nie Wadsworth, Leda Heaton and j Miss Hafen and Wayne Whitehead, ;Gene Gregorson, Andrew Price, Reid Leigh, Marion Bowler, Er-win Er-win Foster and the guest of honor. Following the dinner gifts were presented to Garn to take to the mission field. |
