Show Competition Keen At Dixie As Players Vie For Hoop Berths Fine Material For College Squad; Tough Row Ahead For High Team; Parowan, B. A. C. Teams to Beat Dixie junior college football equipment has now been packed away in moth balls, to lay idle until spring practice. Many outstanding out-standing regulars will return next year and with a normal enrollment enroll-ment of material from other schools, Dixie's second year in league competition should find the blue and white Fliers in the money. . Basket ball The gymnasium is a busy laboratory lab-oratory these afternoons. As you hear the "thud, thud", of balls on the waxed floor you will know that many boys are fighting it out for positions on the high school and college squads. College basketball material is abundant and Dixie should place a fine representative team on the floor. A report of college prospects pros-pects will be given in next week's issue of the News. Hi Outlook and Schedule While the College propects look good at this time, Coach Lee Hafen is faced with a rather gloomy outlook for the high school team, having lost all ten regulars frm last year's squad through graduation. The available avail-able material at this time is "plenty in the rough" and some of those who are close to the situation, think that a win of 50 percent of the league games would' be a fair estimate. However, How-ever, Coach Hafen reports that the boys are hard workers and a surprise team might be developed. de-veloped. At the present time it appears that Parowan or B. A. C. high should represent this division at the meet next spring, however Kanab or Hurricane may be good enough to reach the heights with Enterprise a possible money entry. Fans who saw Parowan play last year know that they hsd a mighty strong aggregation. This same squad is practically intact for this year, couple that with the fact that they have been pracicing for sometime, and you have a hard combination to beat. The following Dixie high school boys are drilling daily, each hope-I hope-I ful for a regular birth. A rather inclusive schedule has been lined up by Coach Hafen with the hope of getting much needed experience ex-perience : Forwards, Keith Heaton.
