Show FLIERS COP CAME By holding the strong Parowan team to 3 points in the second half while scoring 8 in each quarter quar-ter Dixie came from behind to take the game in one of the most exciting second halfs ever seen on the local floor. Parowan led 16 to 5 at the end of the first half but the Fliers passed them in the last minutes of the game to win 22 to 19. Parowan gave the local fans iieart faiiuie with their scoring in the first half while the local team could do nothing but throw the ball with a prayer and needless to say very few of their prayers were answered. Score at the end of the first quarter was Parowan 7, Dixie 2. At the half Parowan 16, Dixie 5. In the second half Dixie soon served notice on the Parowan boys that it was going to be a different story. Not only was the team making the baskets but they were also holding Parowan. Paro-wan. Only 1 point was made by the Iron county seat team during the third quarter. At the start of the second half, few fans would have given Dixie an outside chance, but Coach Lee Hafen must have given them a dose 'of what it takes for the boys clearly outplayed their rivals in this half. Failure to make foul shots almost lost the game for the Fliers. Eight times the boys tried and eight times they missed ber fore they were able to connect for a free shot. Out of 21 attempts at-tempts they were able to cash in on 8. Parowan likewise had trouble trou-ble hiting the hoop for the charity tosses. Wth 10 tries they were able to cash in on only 3. Pickett pulled the game out of the fire with his 5 out of 8 tries from the foul line. Tobler was high man with 8 points but was closely followed fol-lowed by Gurr for Parowan with 7. Walker was next with 6 while Halterman, Pickett and Milne each scored 5 each. For Dixie Tobler was the best scoring threat, but Milne was the outstanding man on the floor, playing a beautiful defensive game and garnering 1 field goal and four charity tosses. Walker, center for Parowan was their best man and played a clever game throughout. Halterman also played play-ed good ball. Pickett was rather a surprise to many fans. Although he had to conceed Walker several inches in height still he was able to get the tip-off his share of the time. However, Parowan was able to get the ball out of center better than the Fliers. All of the boys played for all they worth and deserve credit for this win. The game was primarily a defensive de-fensive battle with Parowan having hav-ing a big edge in the first half and Dixie in the second. With both teams strong defensively, it at times seemed like a mad scramble. scram-ble. Credit goes to the Fliers for their strong uphill fight to victory. Many a team would have been discouraged dis-couraged and quit if they had gone into the second half trailing as many points as they did, but the Dixie five just put on a little more steam and came out the winner. Fliers at Orderville The Fliers will travel to Order-ville Order-ville for their next game on Friday Fri-day night, January 31. Order-ville Order-ville has the reputation for being hard to take on their own floor. Last year the high school team won in a walk here but had all they could do to win in the last minutes of the game at Order-ville. Order-ville. If the Fliers will keep up the fighting type of ball they showed tonight, they will be plenty plen-ty hard for any team to take. However, they better not give any more teams the handicap that they gave Parowan or they may find themselves on the short end of the score.
