Among other subjects discussed by the directors was the erection of the Federal building and the Snow canyon road. To offset a rumor to the effect that St. George wasn't desirous of going ahead with the building at this time, the directors went on record of favoring immediate action and George Lytle was appointed to investigate in-vestigate the status of the building build-ing program and selected David H. It was the opinion of the directors that while there was considerable work in progress for men who were on relief, there was a large group of men who, while not on relief, were just as badly in need of the employment as the others and it was with the thought to assist this group that the direcors urged the erection of the building at this time. According to him a thorough investigation was made and it is his belief that the project pro-ject can be pushed through if the proper effort is forth coming. The committee visited the road commission com-mission and secured their promise for action in surveying the road. Mr. Lytle states that he has also contacted the forest department' and effort is being made to secure a CCC camp to do work on the road where it is on the Dixie National Na-tional forest. While C. W. Love Jr., who has been appointed to work on the Snow canyon road, was not present pre-sent to report on his findings to date the directors feel that an active ac-tive campaign will be carried forward for-ward by Mr.-- Love to secure this road and the Hurricane cut-off roads completion. Gordon Whitehead was elected secretary for' the club. Since there is considerable work connected with this position, the directors expressed satisfaction with Mr. Whitehead's acceptance of the office. |
