Clnrk Mclntirc on Saturday Satur-day night where they were assisted assist-ed in entertaining by Mr. and Mrs. Emil Graff. Mr. nnd Mrs. Paul If. Gates and Mr. nnd Mrs Ray Naegle. Dinner was served to 2S guests after which Five Hundred was the evening's diversion. diver-sion. First prizes were awarded to Mrs. Lcemnn B. Bennett and Glenn Williams, nnd consolation prizes went to Mrs. Claudius Hirschi nnd Maurice Nuttall. Those from out of town who attended at-tended the party were Mr. nnd Mrs. L. B. Bennett and Mr. nnd Mrs. Oman Weight of Parowan "Single poems that have made an author famous" was the theme of the Alice Louise Reynolds club held Monday afternoon nt the home of Mrs. Camilla Judd. with Mrs. LaVcrna Graff as co-hostess. Mrs. Grace Staheli reviewed the milestones that marked the short live of Allan Seeger. Joyce Kilmer Kil-mer nnd Christopher Morley, nfter which Mrs. Flora Tweedie read Mr. Seeger's "I have a Rende-vous Rende-vous With Death" nnd several of Mr. Kilmer's and Mr. Morley's poems. Lunch was served to 15 memtxTS. Mr. and Mrs. Chnuncey Sand-berg Sand-berg left Tuesday to attend "Leadership Week" at Provo and also to transact business at Salt Lake City. Mrs. Douglas Hall and son. of St. George, visited on Saturday with Mrs. Hall's sister, Mrs. Elmer Graff and family. Mrs. Marie Stanworth is now one of the regular clerks in Graff Mercantile. Mrs. Arthur F. Miles and grandson grand-son and daughter, Paul and Edith Crosby, visited on Saturday with Mrs. Katharine Larson. Alfred Syphus. who had spent the past week at Las Vegas, with his daughter, Miss Betty Syphus, 1 15, returned home Sunday for a day here with his family and left again early Monday morning for the Nevada town. Mr. Syphus re ports that Betty has not yet regained re-gained consciousness from the motor accident she was in 10 days ago, although she appears to be resting with more ease than earlier in the week. Mrs. Eugene Wadsworth was hostess to the Pinochle club at her home on Thursday night. The guests enjoyed an evening of cards and visiting. Lunch was served to 12 members. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Sanders have leased the R. D. Adams orchard farm. Mr. and Mrs. Adams and son, Rex, will move to St. George where Mr. Adams will again open a photographer's studio. Clell Covington left Sunday for Salt Lake City where he wall enter the L.D.S. mission home preparatory for his mission to the Netherlands. Mr. and Mrs. Claudius Hirschi left Wednesday for Provo where they will attend leadership week and visit with their daughter, Miss Barbara, who is a student at the B.Y.U. Lloyd Sandberg, Emeron Isom, Dan Conger and Mark Imlay were hosts to the south ward junior genealogy class on Sunday night at the Chauncey Sandberg home. Miss Elaine Bradshaw gave the lesson and the evening's recreational rec-reational features were in charge of George Hastings. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Perkins, Leo K. Homer, Frank Barber, Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo Spendlove Jr., Claudius Hirschi and the Misses Enid and Elaine Bradshaw and Dorothy Hirschi attended funeral services on Saturday at Cane Beds, Ariz, for Marion Lauritzen, world war veteran. Mrs. Henry Scholzen returned Saturday from two weeks spent I in Los Angeles and other California Califor-nia cities in company with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Guerner of Minneapolis, Minn. Mrs. Scholzen brought back the word that their sister, the former Miss Ellen Sanders, was married ' January 13 at Yuma, Ariz, to Dr. Ernest Bingamann of San Francisco, Calif. |
