In Ixtth games the Flyers set a torrid pace, but were unable to find the basket on Monday night and thereby fell behind the Wildcats. Coach Lloyd Shields profiled by the first game's loss and used more men in the second game so that the Flyers were able to hold the terrific pace that they set. Couple that with continually rushing rush-ing the Weber ioys as soon as they got the ball, and you have one of the major reasons for the Tuesday night victory. At that tho. if the Dixie players had lv-en able to hit the basket the first night, that would have been a lot ln-tter game tn-cause the Flyers had the ball a good share of the time and took considerably more shots than the Wildcats, who were slower, but had a considerable highth advantage. Kmiey Comes Thru To Blake FmK-y must go considerable con-siderable credit for the victory as he came thru with some timely baskets to put life in his teammates team-mates and enable them to pull away from the Welier team. Cook played a fine game both nights as did Fawcett. who was a tower of strength on the guard line. All of the boys fought the lull length of the game and had their part in the victory. The Flyers maintained their 4 point lead in the 3rd quarter with a 31-27 score and in the last quarter increased the lead to 9 points. The fans expressed themselves as well satisfied with the referee-ing referee-ing of George Snow and Gene Gregerson. These boys are giving local fans the best officiating that has been shown here in a number ; of years. That they are impartial is shown in the fact that Dixie teams invariably have more fouls called on them than the visiting teams. This is due to the close guarding of the local teams and, perhaps in a degrj to the fact that the local refro' know the habits of our loc-players. loc-players. ) B.A.C. Game Next ' , The College goes to Cedar tlii Friday and Saturday where tW play the B.A.C. team. The Braml Aggies have a similar record s! the Flyers, having won and lo? . one to Weber. Since these tw teams put on a rip-snorting gatwl ' these should be good ones. Botj 1 will be out to maintain thej standing in the league as it wi take two victories for either teaij to keep it in the championshi ' race. I l |
