Show I Joseph Romney Lund, 58, Dies At His Home Here Wednesday Joseph Romney Lund, 58, died at his home in St. George at 1 p.m. Wednesday of cerebreal appoplexy following an acute attack of asthma brought on by influctiza. He has suffered from general asthma for the past several years, but has been seriously ill only one week. i Born in St. George November 19, 1880, he was a son of Robert C. and Mary Ann Romney Lund. Vi'iJ He received his district schooling 'Vil in St. George, also completing 'ffi the high school work given here ' at that time and later attending the B.A.C. at Cedar City for two .';f years. He married Nancy Pearce in ik St. George December 27, 1901. ;j She was a daughter of Thomas J. 1 and Angenette Hendrix Pearce. i They were the parents of 1 seven children, five of whom survive sur-vive as follows: Dr. Grant Lund, of Washington, D. C; Mrs. Wm. McMullin, of Cedar City; Edward Lund, Dilworth Lund, and Mrs. Robert Pickett, of St. George and three grandchildren. Brown and Mrs. Morton Morris, all of St. George and two brothers Louis R. Lund, of Marysvale and R. C. Lund Jr., of St. George. Joseph Lund followed mining until 1924. Since that time he has served two years as state and county patrolman and two years as auto inspector for this county. For the past nine years he has had the mail contract between St. George and Moapa and has been frequently commended com-mended for his expert handling of this work. Always an ' optomist. and outstandingly courteous, he has made many friends wherever he has had employment. His son. Grant, was obliged to return to Washington. D. C. Wednesday Wed-nesday morning, having come by-airplane by-airplane as far as Las Vegas and on to St. George by bus last Friday Fri-day on receipt of word of his father's serious illness. He will be unable to return for the services. His wife, the other four children chil-dren and his three sisters and brother. R. C. Jr. were at his bedside when death carr.e. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today ( Thursday 1 in the south ward chapel with the bishopric of the west ward officiating. |
