Show HEWS OF THE COUNTY SEAT Mrs. James McArthur has received re-ceived word here of the death of her brother, John C. Oxborrow, 62, of Ely, Nevada, of heart disease dis-ease and other complications. Miss Mildred Bentley, who has been attending school at the B. Y. U. has returned home to spend the Christmas holidays. A birthday party was given Saturday night for Joe Talley by his mother. The evening was spent playing games. Refreshments Refresh-ments were served. Miss Norda Gibson, who has spent the past week in Hurricane with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer A. Gibson, because of illness, ill-ness, has returned to St. George and is back at work. A Christmas party was held Saturday night at the home of Alta May Neilson, with a pot-luck pot-luck lunch being served. The evening eve-ning was spent playing games. Junior Larkin left Saturday to spend Christmas holidays with relatives in northern Utah. Marion Higley and Mrs. Walter Higley of American Fork visited last Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Walker. Ervin McArthur arrived Sunday from Provo to spend the Christmas Christ-mas holidays. Miss Audrey Burgess, employed as an instructor in Ogden, arrived ar-rived Monday evening to visit over Christmas holidays with her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Burgess. Miss Aileen Worthen is home from Provo for the Christmas vacation. va-cation. Mrs. Louise Wells left Monday for Logandale, to spend the week. Her daughter Mary Lou, left on Tuesday evening. Mrs. Elizabeth A. Macfarlane, and sons, S. A. Macfarlane and Hubert Macfarlane of Ogden, and daughter Mrs. John Benson of Beaver; Mr. and Mrs. William Os-born Os-born of Richfield, Mrs. June Bullock Bul-lock of Cedar City, and Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Adams of Bunk-erville, Bunk-erville, Nev., were among the out-of-town relatives who attended the funeral of Mrs. Henrietta A. Morris Tuesday in St. George. Mr. and Mrs. Karl A. Condie and two children arrived Sunday from Richfield to visit over Christmas with relatives. Miss Gertrude Frehner left Tuesday for Littlefield, to spend Wednesday with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hawkes of Cedar City were Christmas day guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Starr. Dr. and Mrs. Virgil C. Snow and son, spent Christmas day with their parents, in St. George, guests of Mayor and Mrs. D. C. Watson. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Jones and children who have resided in Pioche for the past five years, are spending the week in St. George and will go on from here to Rock Springs, Wyo., where they have purchased a larger store than the one they have operated op-erated in Pioche. Community good wishes go with them in this venture. ven-ture. For the first time in ten years, Mr. and Mrs. James S. Jones had their entire family together on Christmas Day, including children, in-laws and grandchildren, 25 sat down to dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Seeg- miller of Cedar City visited in St. George over Christmas. The teachers Elaine Pectol and Mrs. Martin Cundic took their group of guardian Bee Hive girls Christmas caroling last Saturday evening. This was followed by a pot-luck supper at the home of Dawn Andrus. The Bridge Ettes were guests Monday evening of Mrs. Robert Pickett at her home, with Mrs. Reed Mathis as guest. The home was decorated with Christmas effect ef-fect and exchange gifts were drawn from the tree by each guest following dinner. Bridge followed dinner with big scores won by Mrs. Clark Empey and Mrs. Reed Mathis. Mr and Mrs. J. R- Williams arrived Monday from Blackfoot, Idaho to spend several months at Temple work. Miss Elizabeth Cottam returned last Saturday morning form spending two weeks in Spnng-ville Spnng-ville with Dr. and Mrs. G. B. Orton. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Davies arrived ar-rived Tuesday from Kanarra to spend Christmas with her mother. Mrs. Ro.-ena Blake. Eight couples attended with Mrs. James Lawrence and LeRoy Larson were Rook prize winners. Individual prizes were also given. Mark Levanger motored in from Glendale Sunday to get his grandmother, Mrs. Charlotte V. Atkin who will spend the Christmas Christ-mas week with her children in Glendale. Mr. and Mrs. Anne Robinson and daughter left Sunday to spend Christmas in Salt Lake City with relatives. Pres. Glenn E. Snow motored to Salt Lake City over the week-end on business. . Dr. and Mrs. Milton J. Cottam and son Bob, arrived Saturday for the Christmas vacation. They will be guests of Sheriff and Mrs. Antone B. Prince. Mr. and Mrs. M. B. The Delta Phi Alpha, college music fraternity, held a Christmas social Thursday evening. The concluding feature was Christmas carol serenading by the group. |
