Show Wards Provide Christmas Theme Programs First Presidency Ursres All To Unite In Efforts To Restore Peace All four "local wards provided Christmas theme programs Sunday Sun-day evening following the regular regu-lar sacramental sendee. The West ward program held in the Eelcmentary. school building build-ing included vocal and instrumental instru-mental music, Christmas readings read-ings and an address by Pres. Harold Har-old S. Snow. A large attendance marked this as one of the most gratifying meetings of the year. The bishopric and membership are rejoicing that the material is well assembled for their new chapel. The final load of lumber was hauled in last week and indications indi-cations are that another Christmas Christ-mas will find them in their own quarters. In the South ward the program was directed by Mrs. Irene Everett.. Ever-ett.. Mrs. Pearson H. Corbett was the reader and Mrs. Pratt Miles soloist. The scriptural reading from Luke, , regarding the birth of the Christ gave the setting, and the hymns and songs written writ-ten in worship of the Christ as an infant, throughout his years, on earth, and the message of love he left to mankind, completed the program. The East and Center wards joined for their program in the assembly hall of the stake Tabernacle Tab-ernacle with the Sunday school superintendent William Brooks and Phillip Foremaster and their assistants in charge. Mrs. Alma Millet directed the presentation of the pageant, "The Nativity", with Elaine Hafen, reader, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Judd as Joseph and Mary, Ferdinand Stucki as Zacharias, Morris Cook as Gabriel, Gab-riel, K. D. Williams, Alpine Prince and Eddie Cluff were the Three Wise men, Beaman Snow, Duane Hunt, Ross McArthur, Howard Wade and Waldo Brooks, the shepherds, Janice Schmutz an angel. A chorus of tiny girls completed com-pleted the cast, and Paul Thompson Thomp-son was accompanist. Grant Cot-tam Cot-tam was In charge of the lighting. light-ing. Preceding the pageant, Grant Cottam read the Christmas mes-saeg mes-saeg of the First Presidency of the L. D. S. church, calling attention atten-tion to the world conditions today and urging that mankind unite in an effort to restore peace through right living. |
