Show I 'Wreck of the Hesperus' Draws Large Crowd The Tabernacle was crowded to near capacity last Friday evening to witness the presentation of the stake's budget offering, "Wreck of the Hesperus". Directed by Prof. Jos. W. McAllister, with Prof. Earl J. Bleak and Miss Ruth Falck assisting with the music, and a chorus of 70 voices, this program was of a high order and was appreciated by the large audience. Preceding the cantata the chorus chor-us was heard from the lower floor in a number of Christmas carols, then marched in formation to the choir loft, the girls in billowing bil-lowing formals and the entire chorus carrying lighted candles, which were held enflame until the conclusion of the first number, "O, Holy Night", with Miss Jean Painter soloist. This was deeply impressive. Hiss Pearl Matheson read Longfellow's Long-fellow's ' poem, "Wreck of the Hesperus", and the cantata soloists solo-ists were Roene Bigler, Clive Hartman and Junior Larkin. |
