Show Indians Receive Gilts On Christmas Day The local Indian population was not forgotten on Christmas Day. Early Christmas morning the entire population from the nearby near-by Paiute reservation assembled in front of the John H. Schmutz home where they received their annual Merry Christmas from the L. D. S. church of beef, canned foods, flour, vegetables, fruits and candy. This cuslom which has been followed every Christmas since the Pioneers came and accumulated accumu-lated enough to share with their native friends, has become as traditional tra-ditional as the legends of the I people otherwise, and helps to cement the friendly spirit established estab-lished soon after the settlement of this section. |
