Show VEYO MRS. JAMES F. COTTAM Reporter Every available man in town is engaged by the Power company at present shoveling the snow drifts and ice out of the ditch. The water hasn't run through the ditch for more than a week and this has closed two plants. Clyde Coville from Cedar City came over last week and helped install a pump to lift the warm water from the creek into the ditch and this has helped some. But very slow progress is being made as the snow is from two to four feet and the ice six inches thick the entire length of the ditch. After spending the past three weeks i n St. George, Alpine Chadburn returned home Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. James R. Bunker were called to Toquerville last Tuesday on account of the serious ser-ious illness of Mrs. Slack, Mrs. Bunker's mother. Word received since is that Mrs. Slack passed away the latter part of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Bunker have not returned home yet. Mr. and Mrs. Lem S. Leavitt returned last Tuesday from St. George after spending a week there. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Leavitt Leav-itt are visiting here with them. The snow is still deep and melting very slowly. Four inches of fresh snow fell Saturday. Roads are narrow and slick and all unnecessary un-necessary travel has stopped. This is the worst storm in the twenty-two years since Veyo was settled. Only twice before has the mercury dropped below eoto, going to 15 below, but one night last week it went to 20 below, the coldest in our history. Bruce Snow of Pine Valley was in town Monday to look, after his cattle in Sand Cove. |
