Show Funeral Services Honor Toquerville Pioneer Last Sat. Speakers Pay Tribute to Her As An Ardent and Devoted Church Worker; Is Given Credit for Fine Disposition TOQUERVILLE, Utah, Jan. 14. Funeral services for Mrs. Adelaide M. Slack, who died on Thursday, January 14, at 7:30 p. ni., where held here on last Saturday at 1 p. m. Bishop Leo Bringhurst conducted the services. serv-ices. Mrs. Slack was the wife of Toqureville's former bishop, Walter Walt-er H. Slack. The speakers included Lorin I. Higbee, Bishop David Hirschi, Hurricane; Riley Savage, Leeds; and Bishop Bringhurst. They told of her activities declaring that she was always an ardent and devoted church member from her girlhood. She was active in all the organization and held the office of president of the Young Women's Improvement association and was also in the presidency of the relief society. They declared de-clared that "Aunt Adelaide'' as she was familiarly called, was beloved by all for her geniality and kindly disposition. Musical numbers included, "My Father Knows", sung by the congregation; "Sometime, Somewhere", Some-where", by Misses Virginia Anderson, An-derson, Maxine Slack, W i 1 m a Kleinman and Marie Beatty; "Cast Thy Bread Upon the Water", sung by a mixed chorus comprised of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Ver-non Church, Mrs. Glen Woodbury and Mrs. Horatio Gubler of La-Verkin. Whitney of Hurricane gave the closing prayer and the grave was dedicated by A. P. Spillsbury. Burial was in the Toquerville cemetery. Mrs. Slack was born December 8, 18 68, at Toquerville, the daughter of James and Anniss Bedford Jackson. Her education was received in the district schools and at the St. George stake academy acad-emy and later the Brigham Young university. She married Walter Slack on August 28, 1900, and besides her husband is survived by four step children. They iare: Mrs. Linda S. Fletcher, Seattle Washington; Wash-ington; Mrs. Irma S. Jackson, Toquerville; Walter H. Slack, Hurricane and Mrs. Nelle M'art-ineau, M'art-ineau, Gunlock, and six of her own children as follows: : Riley L. and Harold E. Slack of Los Angeles; Mrs. Adele S. Blinker, Veyo; Lula A. and Francis M . , Toquerville; land Glenn J. Slack of Cedar City. Her surviving brothers and sisters sis-ters Include William D. Jackson, Salt Lake City; F. B. Jackson, Pintura; Jessie Jackson, Pines-dale, Pines-dale, Arizona; Mrs. Anniss R. Naegle and Harvey A. Jackson. |
