Show Mrs. Ruth Hafen Presents "Giaccnda" BY MRS. KATHARINE LARSON HURRICANE, Utah The domestic domes-tic tragedy "Giaconda" skillfully read by Ruth Clark Halen ot St. George, Friday evening at the stake chapel, before an audience of more than 300 people, furnished serious discussion in the town of Hurricane on Saturday. Never before have the townspeople towns-people witnessed such an artistic presentation. Mrs. Hafen's portrayal por-trayal of the six persons in the play left not the least doubt in the hearer's mind as to which character was speaking. So carefully care-fully selected were the episodes from the play that the sequence remained unmarred and the story moved with clarity from the first few speeches. Two musical numbers preceeded the play, a vocal solo, "Caris-sima" "Caris-sima" by Mrs. Lillian Workman accompanied by Mrs. Ora Reeve and a piano solo, by Mrs. Vernon Campbell. After the reading the following couples met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Sandberg where a dinner was served in honor of Orval Hafen, county attorney, at-torney, and Mrs. Hafen: Mr. and Mrs. Joseph W. Webb, Mr. and Mrs. Claudius Hirschi, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson A. Snow, Mr. and Mrs. Merrill P. Fawson and Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Larson. |
