Show Carl Moss Narrowly Escapes Death When Ladder Falls Carl Moss barely escaped fatal injury just before noon Tuesday, when his ladder, poised on the center balcony of the Temple tower, slipped, plunging over the railings of both center and lower balconies, to the ground, a sheer fall of more than 120 feet but miraculously depositing Mr. Moss safely within the upper deck railing, rail-ing, with only a fractured shin bone. He fell 12 feet. James Wheat, of Lundstorm and Wheat, the painting contractors, reporting, states it was just 11:45 when Mr. Moss descended the ladder lad-der with his paint bucket in preparation pre-paration for the lunch hour. He then reclimbed the ladder for his brushes. When near the top, the ladder over-balanced with the above results. Mr. Moss - was rushed to the McGregor hospital where the injured leg was set and placed in a cast. The break, however, how-ever, is not considered serious. Mr. Moss states he is "feeling mighty lucky to be alive", but he shudders to think of how narrowly narrow-ly he escaped making "one grand jump". |
