Show Interest In Politics Picks Up As Additional Candidates File Accepts .mm Democrats Still Hold A Big Majority of Those Already Filed, But Rumor Says G.O.P. "Will Come Thru" The political situation is bcgin-i bcgin-i ing to take form. Perhaps that is a little optimistic, but at least I four Republicans have announced ' their intention to run for nomination nomina-tion and LeRoy Cox. republican county chairman, declares that his party will not only have a full ticket to present with plenty of nominees to choose from, tut that there will be a drastic change in the Democratic picture after the November election. Those on the Democratic ticket include Morris Wilson, Clair Terry, and Mrs. Nettie K. Morris. On the Republican side of the fence Rex Gardner, D. C. Watson and Harry Slack have filed. Of this group Mr. Terry, Mr. Watson and Harry Slack are the ones who are not in office at the present time. Mr. Terry has been employed in the treasurer's office and has also assisted with the auditing of the books for the various departments. Those who have followed his work declare that he is well-trained for the position of Clerk and Auditor. Mr. Watson and Mr. Slack are both business men and have well established reputations behind them. They will undoubtedly feature fea-ture this since it is vitally important im-portant that business methods be brought into all government offices. offi-ces. Those who are now in office will undoubtedly base their claim for votes on the ability to handle their work and on the records that they establish while in office. Rumors and More Rumors One of the interesting parts of this this political game is the fact that there are rumors and more rumors as to who will run and the position that they will come out for. In this respect there seems to be the most interest being taken in the Commissioner's office. Rumor Ru-mor says that Martin Anderson, Toquerville; Marvin Terry, Rock-vville; Rock-vville; Francis Bowler, Gunlock; Rex Frei, St. George, and Bart Farnsworth, Enterprise, are all interested in running for commissioner commis-sioner and that they might be induced to file if their friends will promise to give them some backing. back-ing. These are all reported as Republican. Carl Moss, John Atkin, Hy Atkin and Jed Fawcett, are also rumored to be interested in the nomination for sheriff on the Republican Re-publican ticket. Mr. Fawcett is said to be considering filing for nomination for the clerk's office, too. And Alton Oviatt, is also rumored to be taking an interest ,in the clerk's nomination. Petition Sent In A petition has been sent in by Mr." Cox and filed with the state asking that Albert E. Miller's name be placed on the Republican ticket for State Representative from this district. Mr. Cox explains ex-plains that under the primary law it is necessary that a petition be sent in and then it is up to the one named to accept or reject the nomination. W. B. Mathis, present encumbent, encum-bent, will ask for nomination on the Democratic ticket, states E. J. Pickett, county democratic chairman. There don't seem to be very many rumors connected with the Democrats as most of the present encumbents have announced their intention to run. However, there should be additional candidates file before the final date rolls around. |
