Show CONFERENCE HERE WELL ATTENDED Regular conference of the St George Stake was held here last Saturday Sat-urday and Sunday, Pres. A. w. iVjs of the general authorities being pres. ent. There was a good attendance and the conference generally was a very enjoyable one, Pres. Jos. K. Nicholes presiding. President Walter Cannon welconi-ed welconi-ed the Saints. Said we should all be grateful to God for cur many blessings; bles-sings; we have much cause to te thankful. Elder Clair Terry reported lus mission to the Northern States and bore a strong testimony to the trmh of the gospel. Elder Rulon Snow reported his mission to the California field. Bore a strong testimony and urged all t0 be obedient to God. Pres. Ivins spoke of the direct purpose pur-pose of these conferences; by comparison com-parison we reach proper conclusions regarding progress made. Spoke of the faithful work of the missionaries who had just spoke.. The Church today to-day is much better than ever before in missionary strength and ability. We are now living under changed conditions; we must keep up with the times but must leave out nothing of our faith. At the Saturday afternoon session Elder Arthur F. Miles reported his mission to California. Said a mission mis-sion was a very beneficial experience ' we all should be willing to serve and assist the work of the Lord. Elder Frank Barber reported his mission to the Southern States. Said he had great joy in his mission work and bore a strong testimony. Had baptized five persons while away. Elder George F. Whitehead made mention of the lack of faith in the world; we must prove faithful to be Elder Jos. I. Earl of Moapa stake ' told of some of his early experiences here, and the great advancement made here since those early days. Pres. Ivins made mention of the increased interest in temple work. Said the tithes had increased. Read scriptual indications of the end of present conditions and the coming of the Son of God. Referred to the 88th chapter of D. & C, saying many are deaf to the warnings contained therein. ' We must prepare ourselves oursel-ves by righteous service to receive salvation. God will fulfill His prom-ices; prom-ices; we must be just and honest and humble to be prepared. Sunday Forenoon Elder'John T. Woodbury spoke of the message of service, as gained at this conference. Elder B. Jarvis, Jr., spoke of the work of the Aaronic Priesthood. Elder W. B. Mathis spoke of the Elders' responsibilities. Elder Archie Kleinman reported his mission to the Central State;. Had been treated very kindly by people peo-ple of the mission. Had baptized 2i persons. Bore a strong testimony. Pres. Jos. K. Nicholes said we are concerned with the activities of the piiesthocd and ward teaching; urged the people to show the ward leaders lead-ers a warm welcome. We should have better attendance at our sacrament sacra-ment meetings. Tithing has increased; in-creased; hoped all would continue it this worty duty; we should all & willing to help support the church institutioins, we receive much here fit from them. The souls of men are worth much and should be developed. develop-ed. We should all strive to be virtuous virtu-ous and clean. Pres. Ivins said he had been interested inter-ested in Pres. Nicholes' remarks; he seems to have diagnosed the case. Made mention of science and relig'n as seen by some scientists; manysw-have manysw-have little faith; some see only th? happiness of man as the goal; sew say religion must take a back seat These men have a distorted point o; view; God's truth does not have w recede because of science at no fraud fr-aud never has.
