Show WILD LIFE ABUNDANT ON DIXIE FOREST Estimates made by the forest service place the number of deer on the Dixie division at 14,500 head. One thousand, three hundred hun-dred fifty-eight head were killed kill-ed during the last hunting season sea-son by hunters, 1000 were estimated esti-mated to have been killed by lions, 800 fawns were killed by coyotes and 500 by lynx. Predatory animals are estimated esti-mated at 1100 coyotes, 775 lynx or bobcats, 50 lions and 7900 porcupines. The estimate of fur bearing animals is 225 beaver, 200 fox, 215 badgers, 450 ermine er-mine and 300 muskrats. |
