Vernal, Decision of the state industrial in-dustrial commission to purchase ?10,-000 ?10,-000 worth of Uintah county district Bchool bonds was approved by the state board of examiners'. The money to be invested is a part of the employees' em-ployees' combined injury and benefit fund. The bonds will bear interest at 5 per cent and will mature in twenty years. Tooele, Fire destroyed the old Maguire store building in the east section of Tooele and before the flames were brought under control the Lake View club building and the Tooele hotel were damaged. The fire is believed to have been of incendiary in-cendiary origin, having started in an unoccupied building. It appears also to be connected with the burning of the opera house and the Auditorium some weeks ago. Salt Lake, Armand T. Rose, bishop of the Mormon church of North Farmington, was - killed and his daughter was seriously injured when their automobile was wrecked on the highway north of here. They were enroute to Salt Lake to attend the annual fall conference of the L. D. S. church. . Salt Lake Issuance of 107 certificates cer-tificates and diplomas was approved by the s-tate board of education at a recent meeting at the capitol. The diplomas and certificates are for school administration school supervision super-vision and teaching in the high schools and grammar grades. Farmington, Davis county for the second consecutive time won the first prize cup for the best exhibit among the counties for the first class in the agriculture and horticulture building at the Utah State fair. This county will also receive the huge silver sil-ver cup donated by Boyd Park. The cup is awarded to the winner in the first class counties each year until one county has won it three consecutive consecu-tive times. Salt Lake, Beneficiaries in Salt Lake City were paid $696,000 in Ufa insurance in 1923, according to statistics compiled in a special report re-port to the Insurance Press, published publish-ed in New York City. In the sam6 report of total claims paid in Utah Ogden is listed at $178,000, Provo at $72,000 and Logan at $24,000. Tre-inonton Tre-inonton ranks fourth with $21,000, Delta fifth with $19,000 and Eureka sixth with $14,000. Provo, The Utah state securities commission cancelled the license oi permit of the National Pump company com-pany of Provo, which had been reinstated rein-stated on certain conditions, but which conditions, it is said, the company com-pany refused to comply with. As a consequence, the authority of the company to sell its securities' in the state was revoked. Vernal, The highway known as the Twist section of the road between Vernal and Fort Duchesne, has just been completed and accepted for the state road commission by Highway Engineers Knowlton and Young, who the past week made a final inspection inspec-tion of the road. All the gravel has been placed on the first six miles of road west of Vernal and this section of the road will soon be completed. Logan, Fire of undetermined origin ori-gin badly damaged the Hotel Eccle3 here, estimate of the loss being placed at $15,000 by C. W. Rapp, chief of the Logan fire department. ' The loss is largely the result 'of smoke and water, according to officials offi-cials of the Eccles Hotel company, which owns the building. The loss is fully covered by insurance.
