Show THE CIVIC BEAUTTFICATION PROGRAM. While the program outlined by the civic improvement and beauti-fication beauti-fication commission, recently appointed ap-pointed by Mayor H. T. Atkin may not meet everyone's approval which was not expected it is a step in the right direction. Any recommendations made toy them, after approval by the city council, will go into effect and will toe enforced, en-forced, the same as any other regulation.. regu-lation.. In this issue of the News are listed the regulations regarding tree planting, the removal of unsightly trees and the placing of telephone and telegraph poles on the streets of the city. These should be studied stud-ied toy every property owner and an endeavor made to follow the recommendations. While no two people have the same idea regarding regard-ing landscaping, and possibly one person's views are as worthy as another's, yet the plan put forth by the commission should be supported sup-ported and faithfully followed. The removal of cottonwood trees alone is a worthy project. They are merely a breeding place for pests, including ants and caterpillars. caterpil-lars. The results of the present campaign cam-paign on uniformity and beautifi-cation beautifi-cation will not become apparent probably for several years, but at least it. is a start toward a city beautiful. |
