Even though schools have been run on a few thousand dollars less than was budgeted, the unusually large amount of delinquent taxes this year has caused a shortage of funds. The board will borrow what money it can, and through careful program next year pay back the borrowed money. The teachers have, consented to teach the last month of the term on a guarantee of three-fourths of the regular salary, with the assurance as-surance that the entire salary will be made up to them as soon as funds are available. They will also be asked to teach next year at the same salary they are receiving this term. Other problems before the board were the consideration of a plea of the Ivins people for a school and a request from the Indian agent to admit Shivwits Indians to the Santa Clara school. No decision has yet been reached on either of these questions. At the principal's meeting held last Friday it was unanimously decided to accept the conditions relating to teachers' salaries as set forth by the board. Checking up on the county tests and final reports re-ports took up the remainder of the meeting. |
