Show Editor Is Held As Slayer East Las Vegas, N. M. Carl A. Ma-gee, Ma-gee, Alburquerque newspaper editor and stormy petrel of New Mexico politics, was formally branded as the slayer of John B. Lassetter, state highway employee in the verdict of a corner's jury here. Magee shot Lassetter, a bystander, in a fight with his bitterest political enemy, former District Judge David P. Leahy, in the crowded lobby of an East Las Vegas hotel. A charge of first degree murder mur-der was filed against him and ho is at liberty under $10,000 bond. The coroner's jury verdict said that Las. setter "rame to his death by reason of a gunshot wound on the left side of his neck, caused by a bullet, fired from a gun in the hands of Carl Magee." |
