Show Best Finish for a Non-Waxed Floor If the floor is stained but not varnished, var-nished, then the most satisfactory finish fin-ish Is an oil finish. The wood may be oiled with warmed paraffin or boiled linseed oil. The warmed oil will penetrate pene-trate the wood and oil it so thoroughly that future grease spots, scratches and stains are less likely to be made. Whether plain oil or oil stain is used, the object is to get the oil into the wood. The first coat will probably all go in so that in a few hours there will be almost nothing to wipe (IT. Several coats of oil on the floor will give a good finish, eafli coat making the floor a little darker than the first. Oiled hardwood floors give good service, ser-vice, with the exception of the rare needed to keep them clean, t'se lit'ht oil for these, like lemon or paraffin, very thin and rub off every bit thai has not been absorbed.
