Show Lawsuit Has Dragged Way Through Centuries A lawsuit which began In Poland about 250 years ago Is still In progress, prog-ress, notes Pearson's Weekly (Lon- dA " cavalry leader In the Polish army named Colonel Lenk died in the charge which routed the Turkish Turk-ish army before the gates of Vienna, and his' estates went to the Carmelite Carmel-ite monks. Then his family produced a document docu-ment written by him cancelling the legacy, and the suit was begun. Later It was continued against the Russian government when Poland Po-land was absorbed by that country. Now that Poland is an independent independ-ent country, the suit continues, this time against the Polish government One of the longest lawsuits on record rec-ord extended over five centuries. It was a claim for the staggering amount of 207,000,000, made by the heirs of an Italian aristocrat whose possessions were confiscated by the state. The claimants declared the confiscation con-fiscation illegal, but ultimately an appeal ap-peal court at Naples decided against them. |
