Show BASEBALL PRACTICE STARTS APRIL FIRST Bill Thomas, manager of the St. George baseball team, announces an-nounces that baseball practice will start on Monday night, April 1st, at the ball park. According to Manager Thomas, this is a little earlier than he issued the call last year. However, the advance ad-vance in date is made since he found that there wasn't enough time for practice before the league games got under way. The first league game last year was slated the first part of May, j and according to Manager Thomas, Thom-as, the games will very likely start about that time this season. sea-son. It is the desire of the St. George club that all who are , interested come out to practice. iThey' remind the players that ; this is a new year and it is up i to every player to prove his abil-! abil-! ity to hold down the position that , he plays. j A meeting of the St. George I baseball club directors was called ! on Monday night, to determine i just what was to be done to j finance the club this season. It was pointed out that it will be I necessary to replace uniforms and j considerable equipment. A sat- isfactory suit has been found that will cost in the neighborhood . Jf ten dollars. It was also de-i de-i cided that it would be necessary I to have fifteen of these suit. Af-, Af-, ter considerable discussion the plan was adopted that was used I two years ago. That is to solicit so-licit funds from the business i houses and in return to give I them the advertising of having ! their names on the suits. Addi- tional funds will be needed for other equipment and plans are i being outlined by the club to raise this money. Because of the resignation of ' Bryan Lund and the vacancies i left by Lloyd Davis and Barney j Chase, new members were ap-j pointed to fill their positions on the club. Mr. Lund asked to be released since the American I Legion is going to sponsor Jun-1 ior baseball this year and he : had been put in charge Of this work. Those appointed to the board were: George Snow, Reid Anderson, Ander-son, and Hyrum S. Lee. ; A committee was appointed to take the necessary steps to raise money and another was appoint-j ed to take up the schedule for j this year's league games with the league officials. |
