Show DEBATING A debate was held March 27 with the Freshman debating team of the University of Utah opposing oppos-ing our college team. The question ques-tion de'b'ated Was the subject of . the junior college league debates, Resolved, that the nations of the world should adopt a policy of free trade. A large audience attended both debates and witnessed a fine display dis-play of argumentive power. As pre-arranged, the debates were non-decision. Both schools were worthily represented. Tryouts for the high school debate de-bate team were held February 16. The four debaters selected were Walter. Christian, Heber Thompson, Thomp-son, Grant Bowler, and Antone Bowler. These four will represent Dixie in the Utah high school league debates. Five other schols, Delta, Hinckley, Hinck-ley, Fillmore, Parowan and Hurricane, Hur-ricane, are participating in the division in which Dixie was placed plac-ed and competition will undoubtedly undoubt-edly be very keen. Dixie will probably prob-ably engage in a triangular debate de-bate with Hurricane and Parowan at Hurricane some time between April 10 and 25, and the winner will then meet the triangular champions of the northern part of the division. The victorious team will be eligible to participate partici-pate in the state finals to be held at Salt Lake City on high school days, May 9 and 10. |
