J. llLil HEARIATTACK Funeral Held Today for Pioneer Pio-neer Stockman of Southern South-ern Utah; Prominent During Dur-ing Life in Civic Affairs Funeral services were held in the stake tabernacle today for Reese Jones Williams, wma died at his home here Wednesday morning following a sudden heart attack. He was stricken while working in the temple about noon Tuesday. Mr. Williams was born July 17, 1S51, at Little Keg Creek, now Council Council Bluffs, la., a son of Ree:e Jones and Betsy Elizabeth Davis Williams. He crossed the plains with his parents par-ents when a small child, settling first in Salt Lake City. When he was nine years old his father was killed in a saw mill accident in Little Cottonwood Cotton-wood canyon, and from then to his marriage he devoted his full time to the support of his mother mo-ther and two small brothers and little sister. His mother was called to help colonize the southern part of the state, the family being among the first settlers in Kanara. On Novemiber 2, 1S72, he was married in the endowment house ! in Salt Lake City to Martha Maria Ma-ria Davis, and to them were born eleven children, all of whom survive. sur-vive. They are: Mr-. Martha Williams, Wil-liams, Kanarra; Reese J. Williams, Wil-liams, Jr.; Provo; Mrs. Marie I Ford, William J., and John Hen- ry Williams, Kanarra; Mrs. J. W. Prince, St. George; Junius F Kanarra; Mrs. P. N. Wilkinson, Wil-kinson, Cedar City; Kumen D., St. George; V'ells A. and Mi's. J.j O. Parker, Kanarra. His wife died April 13, 1926; and he was re-married June 22, 192S, to Mrs. Amanda R. Remington in the Salt Lake temple. She also survives . Throughout dfe, Mr. Williams Wil-liams was a prominent agriculturist agricul-turist and sheepman in this part of the state. He was active in civic affairs, and for four consecutive con-secutive terms was elected county coun-ty commissioner of Iron county. He also had wide religious interests, in-terests, and was an ordinance worker in the St. George temple at the time of his death. |
