Show MORONI SNOW DIES IN SALT LAKE CITY Moroni Snow, 76, brother of Joseph A. Snow, of St. George, and a former resident of St. j George, died at the family home in Salt Lake, Friday, at 10:00 a.m., January 18th. He was formerly for-merly general secretary of th3. Y. M. M. I. A. and before that bishop of the Provo Fifth ward. Mr. Snow w-as born in Provo, May 13. 18 5 S. son of Apostle Erastus Snow and Arr.me.sia Bea-man Bea-man Snow, j He married Emma Adelaide 1 Gat.s, daughter of Jacob Gates, in the St. George temple, Septem-! Septem-! ber 13. 1SS2. In 18S5. Mr. Snow, with his family moved to Milford. where he engaged in (Continued on page eight) MORONI SNOW business. In 1SSS he moved to Provo. where he entered the furniture fur-niture business with his brother-in-law, Jacob F. Gates. In 1S91 he returned to St. George, and resided there with his family until un-til 1S93, when he moved .to Salt Lake and became connected with the Consolidated Wagon and Machine company, which he had helped to organize a number of years before. In 1S9S he returned to Provo where soon after he was made bishop of Provo Fifth ward, serving serv-ing in this capacity until 190 6, when he. returned to Salt Lake. While residing in Provo he was elected to the city council, holding hold-ing the position for four years. In 190S he was made assistant manager of' the Improvement Era and general secretary of the Y. M. M. I. A. He served in these capacities until 1927, when he retired from active business. Surviving are his widow; five sons: Vivian and Clifford G. Snow, Salt Lake; W. Irving Snow, Boston; Mark A. Snow, Portland; Jacob G. Snow, Huntington Hun-tington Park; two daughters, Mrs. Erma S. Fletcher and Mrs. Leah S. Hall, Salt Lake; seventeen grandchildren; two brothers, Frank A. Snow, Salt Lake, and George A. Snow, Los Angeles; five half-brothers, Ashby, Arthur, Willard and Dr. Clarence Snow, Salt Lake, 1 and Joseph Snow of St. George; four half-sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Ivins, Mrs. Flora Wool-ley Wool-ley and Mrs. Martha S. Keate of Salt Lake, and Mrs. Josephine Tanner of New York City. Funeral services were eon-ducted eon-ducted Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Deseret mortuary. |
